Stretching May Reduce Back Pain E-mail

Stretching

Stretch out your muscles each and everyday to get them ready for action and reduce back pain.

We've all been there. You go to lift something and feel a pain halfway between the starting point and the destination. Or you were running around hitting a tennis ball, shooting buckets, tossing around a football, or anything you might not do very often and your back goes out.

We have many muscles that make up our body, and some of those muscles support the spinal column in your back. Having strong muscles in your back as well as your abdomen will work wonders to help ward off back pain. But, having flexible muscles in your back is just as important as having strong muscles.

Exercise and Cellulite E-mail
Tuesday, 23 November 2010

2woutAccording to research, a large portion of the weight lost by dieting alone is active tissue, such as muscle and connective tissue, while a smaller fraction is excess fat. Exercise has the opposite effect. It increase lean body mass and decreased this excess fat.

This is great news for cellulite sufferers.

Even though not all those who are obese develop cellulite, being overweight can really trigger the development of cellulite. This is because too much fat under the skin tend to push the connective tissue creating a strain on the skin. Thus cellulite forms. However, this is still dependent on the structure of the cells. If an individual's cell structure does not inhibit the tendency to bulge or expand even if fat deposits accumulate, then there will be no cellulite. So, the most important thing to remember here is to keep those connective tissues firm and strong and avoid accumulating excess fats so as to avoid the development of cellulite.

Want Another Reason To Stop Smoking? Try Vanity! E-mail

smokeout That's right! Smoking is not only bad for your health, but it depletes your skin of its vitality, leaving it looking pale and "tired" in appearance. Attributed largely to the over 4,000 chemical compounds produced when tobacco burns and its smoke is inhaled or comes in contact with your skin, (e.g acetone, ammonia, arsenic, benzene, cyanide, hydrogen, formaldehyde and nicotine), researchers have found that of these compounds, the major culprits which assault our skin are carbon monoxide and nicotine.

Together these two carcinogens have been found to impede the circulatory system, depriving your skin of its much needed oxygen and vital nutrients which, over time, leads to dehydration and dryness, causing premature facial wrinkling! In fact, when it comes to the face, the American Medical Association has a name for this smoke-induced appearance....it's called Cigarette Face!

LipsAre you satisfied with the way your lips look?

Maybe the ones you were born with just aren't very full, or maybe as the years have marched on, they've lost some of their volume?

Perhaps they've become surrounded by tiny lines and wrinkles, the direct result of years of puckering or smoking, and you are now becoming more and more self conscious about how they make you look...and feel?

October Is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Nutritional Changes Can Make a Difference. E-mail
Friday, 01 October 2010

iStock_000013071811_250x166_72ppi_JPGCancer is a disease that we all wish didn’t exist. It ravages the body and the lives of those around the sufferer. No one can predict who will and who won’t get cancer, but one way that you can reduce your risk of certain kinds of cancers is through watching your nutritional intake.

You are what you eat. Even when you are young, eating poorly will eventually catch up with you. Eating a natural diet not only helps your body by boosting your immune system, it also keeps the body operating in good condition on the inside.

One cancer that is a big concern these days is breast cancer. Besides having yearly mammograms when you turn 40, women can also make nutritional changes to lower their risk.

Staying Healthy During Pregnancy E-mail
Wednesday, 01 September 2010

N_pregnant_woman_250x188Everyone knows when you're pregnant you eat for two but your diet isn't the only thing that affects your baby. Paying special attention to your health will reduce the likelihood of problems for your child, and it will make you more comfortable during this physically taxing time.

Getting Proper Nutrition:

Pregnant women need about 300 more calories per day than they did before they were expecting. These extra calories provide the fuel for your baby to grow. If you don't eat enough, however, the baby will usually get what he needs anyway.
