Sugar is good. There is no other way to say it. Just one bite and we are hooked. But, you can tame it.
Sweets spike the blood sugar and give us a rush. If you are tired, eating sugar can not only taste good but also provide the needed energy – at least for about an hour or so. The downside is that to achieve the same high again you need more sugar.
The Facts
There are misconceptions about sugar. In the body, sugar is okay in moderation. In fact, all foods are okay in moderation. It’s when we eat too much sugar that we have a problem. If you are trying to lose weight, a sweet tooth can derail you.

With just a month left until the end of summer, you may be in a hurry to lose a few pounds before the season changes. If so, be careful of those heavily advertised (and often misleading) products you see on the internet or at local stores promoting "fast, effortless" weight loss without exercise or lifestyle changes. While these companies are very good at telling the consumer what they want to hear, if you look closely at what they're selling, you'll see that their products often involve purchasing pre-packaged meals or drinks, herbal pills or a "starvation" diet plan that can be unsafe, costly and in my opinion, will help you lose nothing more than your money!
These so-called "miracle" weight loss plans and products often send dieters into a cycle of quick weight loss, followed by a “rebound” weight gain once normal eating resumes. Sadly, in many cases, the weight gained back is often greater than what was originally lost while on the diet plan!

The data can be so confusing when you're trying to lose weight and burn fat. You know you need to exercise but there are only so many hours in the day and you want to make most of your exercise time.
So which is best? Cardio or weights?
As a physician, I'm an advocate of incorporating cardio and weight training into your weekly workout plan as they both have a positive impact on your health.
So which one will help you burn more calories? While calorie for calorie you'll burn more with cardio, that's not the whole picture.

Eating too much sugar is not healthy for you. Most people would agree with this. Yet, we are still getting way too much of it in our diet. Why?
If you have ever read a food label then you know how confusing they can be. Once you get past simple ingredients like milk, water, corn and cheese, things begin to get a little dicey. How do you read those labels?
Sugar is a carbohydrate. It is called a simple carbohydrate because it is metabolized easier. It doesn't need extra energy to be broken down. In fact, if you've ever had a sugary snack, your blood sugar spikes right away. You get energy for about thirty minutes and then feel like you are sinking through the floor.

When you're feeling poorly inside, your skin's the first to know it and show it. Sallow skin, which can happen as a result, is skin that lacks the shine and luster that's often seen in healthy skin.
If you have sallow skin, perk it up with some home-made goodness found as close as your kitchen. That's right, natural ingredients can be used to help enhance the appearance of your skin without harsh chemicals. One such way is with a fruit facial mask that anyone can create at home with the right foods. The mask will work to remove excess oils, retain moisture and remove dead cell layers so healthier skin underneath can shine through.
Here are some ingredients that you can use to make a fruit facial mask.

Weight loss is the hottest topic and goal when the weather starts to get warm. But, it can frustrate some people who work hard yet still don’t see the results that they want. Here are a few ways that you can boost your metabolism to achieve success.
What Is Metabolism?
Metabolism is the rate at which your body uses the calories in the food that you eat. There is a common misconception that thinner people must have faster metabolisms and obese people must have slower ones.
Food is the fuel for the engine that runs your body. When you give it the proper fuel, it will run like a well-oiled machine. When you give it too much of the wrong stuff, it can clog up the engine and slow down the machine. What most people want to know is how to speed up the metabolism.

Stress is a reality in most people’s life. When stress grips you, there's no time to stop for it. Unfortunately, besides the direct effects stress can have on your health (e.g. hypertension, heart disease), it's the number one cause of overeating. So the next time you're under a lot of stress, before hitting the fast food restaurant, learn whether you were driven there by your emotions.
What is emotional eating?
It occurs when your feelings dictate whether you are hungry or not. Also, you eat to soothe your feelings when something is wrong.
